Legislative Update - June 2005

TO: COHEAO Members
FR: Andrew Stringer, Washington DC Staff

On June 16, the House Appropriations Committee passed the FY2006 Labor, Health and Human Services and Education appropriations bill. Education-related provisions in the bill are almost identical to the Subcommittee bill passed last week, which provides $66.1 million for Loan Cancellations and no funding for the Federal Capital Contribution.

The House of Representatives is expected to vote on the bill next week. The Senate Appropriations Committee has not yet announced its schedule for action on the Labor, Health and Human Services and Education appropriations bill. COHEAO will continue to update the membership as events unfold.
