The White House is expected to formally announce the resignation of Secretary of Education Rod Paige later today. It is not yet known when the resignation will take effect. Paige, 71, has been the Secretary of Education throughout President Bush's first term.
Expected to succeed Paige is Margaret Spellings, currently the assistant to President Bush for domestic policy. Previous to the position Spellings was a senior advisor in charge of implementing education programs for then Texas Governor Bush.
