Re: COHEAO UPDATE: Perkins Loan Appropriations

May 30, 2006

The House Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services and Education (Labor-HHS-Education) is currently scheduled to mark-up their FY2007 appropriations bill on June 7. This bill needs to provide funding for the Perkins Loan Federal Capital Contribution and Loan Cancellation accounts. It is critical that funding for these two accounts be included in the bill, because adding funding further down the road becomes increasingly difficult.

Therefore, COHEAO encourages all members to call their Representative as soon as possible and ask that the House Labor-HHS-Education Subcommittee fund both the Federal Capital Contribution and Loan Cancellation Accounts.

To find out who your Representative is, go to www.coheao.org and click on “Click Here to Send a Letter to Congress.”

If your Representative is on the Labor-HHS-Education subcommittee, please ask them to fund the Perkins Loan Federal Capital Contribution and Loan Cancellation Accounts.

If your Representative is not on the subcommittee, still call and ask that the Representative ask the subcommittee to fund the Perkins Loan Federal Capital Contribution and Loan Cancellation Accounts.
